Roland-Henrich Gotschik is a German-Romanian artist born in 1960, whose pictorial practice lies at the intersection of tradition and modernity. His artistic formation was shaped by demanding mentors, among whom Constantin Pușoiu stands out. His early professional years include work as a church painter and studies at the Popular Arts School in Constanța.
After a period dedicated to the business environment, the artist returned to painting with renewed focus, exhibiting in Romania and later in Germany, where he held two solo exhibitions in Esslingen (2019, 2020) and took part in a group exhibition in Stuttgart. During this time, he also attended courses at the Kunstakademie Esslingen, later interrupted by the pandemic.
His visual universe is strongly influenced by the winter holiday traditions and ritual masks of Moldova and Bukovina, juxtaposed with elements drawn from the German cultural heritage of Baden-Württemberg and Bavaria. These influences coalesce into a post-expressionist language defined by chromatic intensity and visceral expressiveness.
His works are part of private collections across Europe, as well as in China and the United States, where they have shown a consistent increase in resale value.
