Eugen Raportoru (born 1961, Bucharest, Romania) is a Romanian painter, installation artist, and cultural animator of Roma origin. Eugen Raportoru is the only Romanian artist of Roma ethnicity who has had an exhibition at the Vatican under the auspices of UNESCO, at the Royal Academy of Arts in London, and at the Ethnic Museum in Oslo and Stockholm through the Roma Party. In 2022, he was the first Roma person to exhibit at the Venice Biennale under the auspices of the Roma Arts and Culture Institute (ERTAC).
His artistic debut took place in 1975 at the age of 14 at the Grivița Cinema in Bucharest. He has had exhibitions at the Brâncuși Hall of the Palace of the Parliament of Romania, as well as many others under the auspices of the Union of Visual Artists, at the Simeza Gallery, and the National Museum of the Romanian Peasant. After graduating from the University of Fine Arts in Bucharest, he participated in exhibition events at several art museums in Romania. The Romanian Museum of Contemporary Art of Pavel Șușară acquired an installation work titled The Abduction from the Seraglio in 2010.
He has been a member of the Union of Visual Artists since 2010 and won the award for best painter at the UAP National Gala in 2021. He has exhibited frequently in cities throughout Romania and has works in private collections around the world. In 2022, he was the first artist of Roma ethnicity to have a solo exhibition commissioned by ERTAC at the Roma Pavilion at the Venice Biennale.
